Itinerary of our Atlas desert tours
Day 1 – Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – El Kelaa M’gouna – Boumalen Dades
Your Atlas Desert Tours shell start as we will pick you up from your riad around 08:30 Am and drive you via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, rising to an elevation of 2260 meters, while enjoying the attractive views of the High Atlas Mountains and picturesque Berber villages. We will then go on to visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the exotic Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou and have lunch .
Furthermore, our next stop will be Atlas Studios, the largest movie studio in the world and host to such famous films and television shows as Lawrence of Arabia, The Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy, Gladiator, The Man Who Would Be King, Vikings, Game of Thrones, and Aladdin as well as several James Bond and Jason Bourne movies.
Then we will continue on to El Kelaa M’gouna (the Valley of Roses), where roses are grown and processed into perfumes, oils, and lotions. Moreover, we will pass by the beautiful palm grove oasis in Skoura, where you will see many exotic Kasbahs, such as the Taourirt and Amerhidil Kasbahs. Then, when we reach the lovely Dadès Valley.Dinner and Breakfast included in your Accommodation.
Day 2 – Boumalen Dades – Todgha Gorge – Tinjdad – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, we will continue our Atlas desert tours as we will head toward Merzouga, stopping first at the spectacular Todgha Gorge where you can take a walk along the gorge floor between the canyon walls. We will then continue across the valley to Tinjdad, where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will drive via Erfoud, where we will visit an amazing fossil factory and learn how they excavate, polish, and shape trilobites, orthoceras, ammonites, and other fossils into beautiful objects. We will continue on to Merzouga desert by 4 pm.
Furthermore, your camel guide will have your camels ready to take you on an adventure into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi; the highest dunes in Morocco (2400 ft). Moreover,you will enjoy beautiful scenery, an amazing sunset and the quietness of the Sahara desert before you reach your Sahara desert camp. Lastly, overnight includes dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 3 – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)-Rissani-Alnif-Tazarin-N’kob-Draa valley-Ouarzazate
Next morning, the camel man will wake you up at dawn to see the spectacular sunrise in the desert. Afterward, you will return to the camp for breakfast. The camel man will then take you back to the Auberge where you can shower and refresh. We will drive to Rissani, passing through the Ksours and kasbahs of Tafilalet. You’ll visit the Zaouia of Moulay Ali El-Charif, the mausoleum of the Glaoui dynasty founder. Finally, enjoy a walk to explore the local market and traditional souks in Rissani. Furthermore, we will be heading to Ourzazate via Alnif, Tazarin, Draa valley till reaching Ouarzazate. Moreover, dinner and Breakfast included in your Authentic Accommodation.
Day 4 – Ouarzazate – the pass of Tizi n’Tichka – Marrakech
For the last day of our Atlas desert tours, and just after Breakfast we will be heading toward Marrakech by crossing the high Atlas Mountain through the Pass of Tizi n’Tichka. Furtheremore, stopping along the way and enjoying the wonderful surroundings then having lunch in a Berber village called”Teddart” before your arrival to Marrakech and end of our Atlas desert tours.
